Monika Unterholzner

Approved and state-certified austriaguide

Whilst the following conveys the extent of my professional experience, more important is the joy and pleasure I receive from welcoming guests to my hometown and showing them the sights of our region.

My family has been running Austria’s oldest family business, the Grassmayr bell foundry, for over 400 years. Because of this old family tradition, I became interested in the history and stories of my home country at an early age.

While I was still at grammar school, I showed friends and guests around the historic rooms of the Bell Foundry and the adjoining Bell Museum.

I realized how much I enjoy informing guests and inspiring them with interesting and unforgettable experiences. That’s why I trained to become a state-certified austriaguide and have been working as a tourist guide with great enthusiasm ever since.

In order to be able to work successfully as an independent entrepreneur, I studied economics at the University of Innsbruck, specializing in tourism economics.

After graduating, I initially worked for the Seefeld Tourism Board in Tyrol before switching to the consulting sector.
There, my areas of responsibility included organizing congresses and conferences, preparing seminar programs, lecturing, giving in-house training and supporting the implementation of new operating concepts.

I acquired my license to work as a tour guide over 20 years ago and have been working as an independent austriaguide ever since.

Private: I am married and have four children who are now grown up. I like to spend my free time with my family or friends in the great outdoors on mountain and ski tours. But I’m also enthusiastic about concerts and theater performances, exhibitions and interesting lectures.
